Not your average box brownie.

Not your average box brownie.

I love brownies. I do actually love boxed brownie mixes, but I also really love homemade from scratch brownies because they are fudgy and so rich. So this is my take on using a boxed brownie base and transforming it into something people will think you slaved over all day! Today we’re all about the Not Your Average Box Brownies.

With just adding a few key ingredients it really transforms what happens. If you use melted butter instead of oil they brownies stay a little more rich and dense. Adding an egg adds richness. Coffee makes the chocolate flavor explode and of course chocolate chips. Who doesn’t love chocolate chips added in.

You’ll Need:

  • 1 box of brownie mix – no add ins
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup of melted butter
  • 1/4 cup of whole milk
  • 1 Tablespoon prepared dark coffee, or instant granules
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

All things you most likely have at home already! and its super simple… are you ready? Mix them together.

To bake you’ll preheat your oven to 350 degrees. We do add some moisture here so the higher heat will help these cook a little quicker. I use a 9×9 pan and bake for 50-55 minutes. If you want a gooey center bake for 45 minutes. Serve up warm as is. or with ice cream. Its like fudge and brownies mixed together I can’t get over how delicious these are. Its becoming a new consistent craving for me!

For your next bake sale, or family dinner use the minimal effort and make something impressive! Simplicity is key!
