Homemade Pizza Dough

Homemade Pizza Dough

Pizza dough is such a good thing to have on hand. I always end up saving this and having it in the freezer because its such an easy and fun meal to put together! so SAVE THIS Homemade Pizza Dough recipe for later.

Its a pretty versatile and forgiving dough. I like it best as a thin crust so I can get it a little crispy. I’ll continue to post my favorite toppings to go with this dough. But this is my ride or die when it comes to pizza.

Cooking options.

I wish I was lucky enough to have one of those cool pizza ovens. I’m just not that blessed yet. My favorite way is to use my traeger, I set the temp to 450 degrees F, set a pizza stone or a flipped over baking sheet in there on the shelf and heat it up! Then I pretend I have a cool pizza oven. This can also be done in your normal oven but I would still use a pizza stone, or flip over a rimmed baking sheet and it will act the same way. Top with your favorite combos and flavors and this will bake for 10-12 minutes depending on how burnt you want your crust to be!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tblsp sugar or honey
  • 4 cups All purpose flour
  • 1 tblsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • (May need extra 1-3 tblsp if your dough is dry when kneading)
Directions
  • Step 1 Activate the yeast – start with your cup of warm water, add yeast and sugar and give a little light stir. Let sit until foamy and bubbly. about 5-10 min.
  • Step 2 In the bowl of a stand mixer, add flour, olive oil, salt, and yeast mixture. Mix until combined. Then in the mixer or by hand knead the dough for about 5 minutes. (may need to add an extra tablespoon of water here to bring the dough together if you live in a dry area)
  • Step 3 Place the ball of dough in a bowl, cover, and let rise at room temperature for 60-90 minutes. Until doubled in size.
  • Step 4 Once risen, divide dough in to 4 equal parts. Roll each part out to about 1/4 inch circles and top with your favorite pizza toppings.
  • Step 5 Heat oven with pizza stone to 450 degrees F and cook pizza for 10-12 minutes. Serve!
  • Step 6 **If you don’t use cook all the dough, you can save it in the freezer for a month! Just wrap each individual portion with cling wrap and then aluminum foil and it will keep really well. Thaw and continue rolling out and baking like normal when you’re ready to use it!
